Baby, It’s Cold Outside!

Buddy Cat Love Wags A Tail
I gave some food to a friendly cat that showed up at my house in the neighborhood a couple months ago, and the cat in this photo, who we’ll call Buddy, started showing up in the shadows. I bought enough cat food for two, and shortly after, the friendly cat disappeared. I’ve been feeding Buddy ever since. He shows up regularly, and is getting pretty much two meals a day now. He won’t let me get close enough to touch him, which is fine. I think it’s better for him not to get too close to most people. We’re not all beneficial to cats.

But we are having cold weather tonight in South Florida. Last night was very chilly, and I was thinking about Buddy, wondering how he manages on nights like these. Last night was supposed to have hit a low of 46 degrees, but tonight, it’s supposed to be 39 and we have a wind chill advisory, so it will feel even colder. After last night, I had to fix a little something up for Buddy in case he’d like a cozy small room to retire in for the night, so I fixed this little house up for him. I duct taped the side air ventilation slits, then draped a couple towels over the sides to help keep the drafts out.

I then stuffed the inside with towels, and figured if Buddy decides to go inside he’ll have some rearranging to do anyway. Well, if cats are anything like dogs, that is. With all that padding he’ll have a lot of towels to surround himself with, and the house is small so hopefully, it will be easier to keep warm. But will he go in?

I fed Buddy his dinner by the little house tonight. It’s just a few feet away from where he usually gets fed, so I know he saw the house. It was right in front of him! And now it’s his decision where to sleep. You can see his paper plate of leftover food in the lower left corner of the photo. Now it’s up to Buddy to chose, but on a brisk night like this, I know if i were in his paws, I would have chosen to make friends with the lady who feed me and go on into the house!Keep yourself and your pets warm!
