Settle Hyperactive Dogs With Food Toys During Board-and-Train Dog Training

Here’s something you don’t see too often. A Dobermann eating a pickle. OK, so he’s not actually eating “the” pickle, but he’s eating from the pickle. The Starmark Pickle toy. What a greatly designed toy it is, too! It keeps dogs occupied for long spurts of time. Luigi the Dobermann is almost 13 years old, and sometimes it’s difficult to find the right toy for him, but he loves his pickle toy! And it gives him a mental workout, as well to get your dog started on a lifetime career of using food toys.

And below is an example of the power of another food toy, the Kong. Just be sure to have your ear plugs in when you listen to this video for the before and after of a noisy doggo. But the miracle of a food toy is shown to save the day, and your ears, in the end. So enjoy a good laugh at the antics of an adolescent Elkhound and his reluctant playmates who need a break!

Finding the right treat toys for your dog and teaching him how to use them are two projects. Some food toys don’t fit the bill for certain dogs and breeds, so be careful and look for a sturdy option that is challenging enough for your dog, but also ones that are not too easy. No one wants to play with a game that’s too hard to win at, and on the other hand, a toy that spills all the food out in one full swoop is way too easy. A food toy should be rewarding enough to keep the dog in the game while taking some time to completely empty.
